Everything you need to get yardages, record a round and keep the phone and watch working from the same scorecard.

Set up the player and bag first

Add your handicap, preferred tees and the clubs you carry. Seed each club with your expected distance; Bad Caddie will refine those figures as it records suitable real shots.

Starting a round

    Choose the player and bag

    Check the handicap, tees, proficiency and club distances in Settings.

    Find the course

    Search by course name and select the correct result. Bad Caddie uses OpenStreetMap data and keeps recently played courses on the device.

    Choose the round

    Select 9 or 18 holes, the starting hole, playing conditions and whether competition mode is required.

    Allow location access

    For live yardage, allow location while using the app. Apple Watch uses its own location when available.

    Record the round

    Select a club and shot type before each stroke. Add penalties when they occur, then select Putter and enter the number of putts to complete the hole.

Courses and maps

The course is incomplete or unmapped

Use the File menu to build the missing scorecard from one or two photographs. You can then privately map tees, pins, doglegs and hazards as you walk the course.

The map says “Unmapped”

No usable GPS geometry is stored for that hole yet. If mapping is enabled, the tee is captured with the first club selection and the pin when the hole is completed.

The yardage says “Out of range”

The device is not close enough to the selected course for a reliable live reading. The map can still show a tee preview when mapped course data is available.

Scoring

A completed score is wrong

Open the scorecard on iPhone and select the completed hole to correct total shots, putts or penalties.

I chipped in

Select Putter to enter putting mode, then complete the hole with zero putts.

Playing a nine-hole course twice

Choose the 18-hole repeated-nine format. Bad Caddie keeps the two circuits separate while still showing the physical hole number.

Apple Watch

Phone and watch are not synchronising

Confirm the watch is paired to the same iPhone, Bluetooth is enabled and both Bad Caddie apps have been opened. Keep them nearby briefly while the latest round state transfers.

The Watch app is optional

Bad Caddie is fully usable on iPhone. The watch provides wrist-based yardage, club and shot selection, penalties, putting, scorecard and hole-map access.

Purchases and files

Restore the lifetime unlock

Open Settings and use Restore Purchases while signed into the Apple Account that bought the unlock.

Importing and exporting

The File menu can import scorecards and Bad Caddie course files, export a personal course, and export completed round and shot data. OpenStreetMap-sourced geometry is not re-exported.
